German firefighting team finds five dead after house fire and indications of a felony | Abroad
Firefighters make a bad discovery while putting out a house fire near Wuppertal, Germany. German media reported that they had found the remains of five people.
The victims were a father, a mother, their two children, and a grandmother who lived in a neighboring house. One of the victims managed to get out but surrendered there, according to the WDR report. According to the Public Broadcasting Corporation in North Rhine-Westphalia, there are indications of a crime, and the police have formed a murder committee in the case. Cologne Police confirm the latest order to ZDF but don’t want to say anything else.
Firefighters were notified of a fire in a house on the outskirts of Radevormwald, about 20 kilometers southeast of Wuppertal, at around 5:00 pm. The firefighters put out the fire at around 7:30 p.m. Then they discovered the five bodies. The cause of the fire and the victims were not officially revealed.
It is unclear how long the forensic investigation will take, said a police spokesman at 9 pm. Reinich Post. The police and the prosecutor’s office want to provide more information about the background to the fire on Saturday.
Mayor Johannes Manz of Radevormwald visited the drama theater Friday evening. “I was very shocked,” he told the newspaper. “I came to the scene to get an idea of the situation.”
