Former Vice President Pence May Testify Against Donald Trump

Former Vice President Mike Pence will not appeal his subpoena to testify against former President Donald Trump and the January 2021 attack on the Capitol, Pence’s spokesman announced. ‘It’s actually very valuable,’ says American reporter John Postma.

It concerns an investigation launched by special counsel Jack Smith into Trump’s role during the Capitol storming on January 6. Smith is also examining classified documents found at Trump’s Florida villa. Postma calls the parliamentary committee’s legislative decision on January 6.

That’s one reason he’s cooperating now, says his spokesman.

Of course, Trump could sue against Pence’s intentions, but that would be a defensive move — the former president lost all the lawsuits he previously filed. It will be interesting what Pence will say to the attorney — who has been in close contact with Trump during the storm and was pressured by his boss.

A loose rope

And that’s not just his habit, Pence may be reluctant to criticize Trump because he’s a presidential candidate like Trump. The former president is still the most popular candidate and has many rabid supporters. Whoever touches her husband is sure of his anger and his wrath. All of Trump’s challengers seem to be balancing on that tightrope: distance themselves from Trump on the one hand, and don’t criticize the man too much on the other. “Pence has the same problem as every Republican rival to Trump.”
