Elimination of 4 x 100m relay teams in the World Cup Series | other sports
Dutch relay teams failed to qualify for the 4x100m final at the World Championships in Athletics in Eugene, USA. The women’s quartet finished sixth in their qualifying rounds with a score of 43.46 and this classification was not enough to secure a place in the final. The men finished seventh in their qualifier at 39.07 and that also meant elimination.
The first three of the two series qualified directly for the final, as well as two other nations based on their time. Among the women, the American team had the best time in the series: 41.56. Great Britain selected for the second time (41.99) and Jamaica the third (42.37).
The Orange team ran a major tournament with a dramatically changed composition. Of the runners Andrea Puma (22), Zoe Sidney (20), Minky Bishops (19) and Naomi Sidney (27) only had the necessary experience. She was already part of the team in 2016 with Daphne Schippers, Jamil Samuel and Tessa van Schagen, who set the Dutch record of 42.04.
The wand changes went flawlessly with the Dutch women, but fell short in speed compared to the first. The team had exactly the same time as Denmark, but that didn’t matter for the score and that was the elimination.
Men are disabled too
The Dutch sprinters also failed to reach the 4x100m relay final. Quartet Hensley Paulina, Timir Burnett, Joris van Goul and Rafael Pogo finished seventh in their qualifying at 39.07. Team USA won the series at 37.87.
