Eat a hearty breakfast and lose weight? This is how the breakfast diet works
This diet is not associated with calorie restrictions or anything like that. All you have to do is make breakfast the biggest meal of the day.
The idea is that you eat the most calories in the morning, say 700 calories. Lunch is slightly smaller, around 500 calories, and the smallest meal of the day is dinner, with only 300 to 400 calories. In this case, the majority of carbohydrates and proteins are diverted to breakfast and lunch, so that dinner consists mainly of proteins and vegetables.
The idea behind this is that the time of day, i.e. when you eat and how often you eat, is more important than what you actually eat. Our hormones are responsible for storing and burning fat and they change throughout the day.
Lose weight with a hearty breakfast
Research also shows that a hearty breakfast can lead to weight loss. Daniela Jakubowicz, a professor of medicine at Tel Aviv University, conducted a study of 94 overweight women and men over an eight-month period. Study participants were divided into two groups on two different diets: the first group ate a low-carb diet with a small breakfast, a regular lunch, and a larger dinner, while the other group followed a breakfast diet and consumed most of their calories in the morning. .
To be fair, by the end of the study, both groups had lost weight because both diets were associated with a calorie deficit. But it could be said that the breakfast group lost significantly more weight, felt more alert and energetic, and had lower carb appetites than the other group. This ensures that there is a good chance that the breakfast combo will last longer in the diet.
