Electronic Arts, EA, has completed its acquisition of Codemasters. EA’s purchase of the official Formula 1 games product is $ 1.2 billion. This puts Formula 1 in the hands of the company annually also responsible for FIFA, NFL and the NHL.

Codemasters will own the rights to the official Formula 1 game through 2025 anyway, plus an option for another two years. According to the provisions of the EA, there is no intention to waive these rights.

The game giant wants to release more racing games. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to bring you more and more racing games,” said the EA statement. “This alliance also allows us to create new and innovative ways to interact and enjoy our passion for racing games together.”
