The Netherlands Scientific Research Organization (NWO) is looking for a Communication Officer in The Hague.

Where will you work?
You are part of the NWO’s central communications department, which is made up of several teams. You will work on the liaison team for the exact and natural sciences in the NWO (ENW) field. The field of science develops research programs, funding, and puts research in experimental sciences on the agenda. Consider supporting international networks in astronomy, energy transformation in collaboration with the business community, and the development of a quantum computer or sustainably produced food.

The Science Communication Team consists of four Communications Consultants, five Communications Officers and a Team Leader. This vacancy arose due to a change in the organization of the communications team. The location is The Hague.

What will you do?
It is a diversified position with a focus on conference communication activities such as:
Text editing, design and public relations (program book, invitations, reminders, forms, slides, application, intranet, report, messages on social media, evaluation form), creation and maintenance of conference website, creation of films to introduce scholars.

Together with your colleague, you can manage and monitor the social media of the domain, identifying relevant news and trends on a daily basis. Together, you coordinate answers to questions that come through these channels. As part of the communication team, you can create and place messages on various media in consultation with communication consultants. You will also need to find suitable visual material for this. Think of the newsletter and messages on the NWO’s website and social media. Alternately with your colleague, you make a Science contribution to the NWO newsletter, writing letters and providing an appropriate photo. In addition, you can do simple DTP jobs and make short films to enhance or dress up messages.

Another part of your job is to put the content on the NWO website. Sometimes the content is from colleagues, other times you write a message yourself. You may also be involved in supporting communications consultants in the performance of their work. You are responsible for planning the communications as you have to switch with copywriters, designers, photographers, etc.

The employee we are looking for has:
– HBO education in communication;
Knowledge and experience in communicating at events;
Knowledge and experience in managing social media;
– Experience with CMS for websites;
Experience in the production of communication tools, including monitoring of schedules;
– Good communication skills and organizational qualities;
Excellent speaking and writing skills in Dutch and English;
Flexible and independent working position where you work well together in a team;
Proactive attitude to work towards colleagues and enjoys taking joint work.

we offer
We offer an appointment for at least 32 hours a week, for one year with the possibility of a permanent appointment if you perform well. Salary is based on education and experience up to a maximum of €3,633 (Scale 8 of Annex 1 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Research Institutes) for 38 hours of work per week.
