Demi Shores has split with American doubles partner Desiree Krawczyk after a disappointing WTA Finals. The tennis players were a permanent couple for almost two seasons.
“I made the decision, but we both felt like we needed new energy,” Schurz says. “Before the WTA Finals, I left it open, but we’re not on the same page anymore.”
Thirty-year-old Shores and Krawczyk, who is a year younger, were recently unable to impress at the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico. The pair lost all three group matches in straight sets.
The Limburg and American teams won three titles together. This year they were the best in Stuttgart, Germany and Eastbourne, England. The results at the Grand Slams were disappointing.
Schurz, No. 19 in the world, does not have a new doubles partner for next season. She started the tennis year at the United Cup, where she formed a team with Talon Grykboer, Arantxa Ros, Timo De Backer, Ariane Hartono and Wesley Koolhoff.
Kohlhoff recently split from his British doubles partner, Neil Skupski. The Dutchman will again form a duo with Croatian Nikola Mektic, starting next season. After his separation from Salvador Marcelo Arévalo, Jean-Julien Roger continues his training with Briton Lloyd Glasspool.
