Demi Shores was unable to deliver an upset in her opening doubles match in the WTA Finals. The Dutchwoman, along with her American doubles partner Desira Krawczyk, lost 4-6, 3-6 against Czech No. 1 Barbora Krejkova and Katerina Siniakova.
In total, the Dutch and Americans have lost their service game no fewer than seven times. The duel lasted an hour and a half.
Schurz and Krawczyk will also compete in a foursome against American duo Coco Gauff/Jessica Pegula and Chinese players Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan. The best couple advance to the semi-finals.
29-year-old Schurz, ranked 21st in the world in doubles, is already participating in the year-end tournament for the fourth time. I have done this each time with a different marital partner. The Texas event kicked off on Monday.
