The United States has “turned all the economies of the world upside down,” Colombian President Gustavo Pedro said on Friday, warning of a looming global economic crisis.
All currencies, including the Colombian peso, have depreciated as a result of US actions and policies, he said at an event in the northwestern region of Antioquia.
“Latin American coffers are emptying. “Latin America is being looted,” he said.
“The United States has the ability to destroy Latin American economies, but also to help them,” Pedro underlined.
“America is turning economies around the world upside down. They are only interested in protecting themselves without thinking about the impact of their actions on others,” he added.
Pedro also criticized the US for mistreating illegal immigrants who risk their lives in search of a better future.
He urged all Latin American countries to work together to improve their own conditions and ensure prosperity for their people.
