Prime Video releases a documentary about Celine Dion. The film takes a look at the Canadian singer's career, but also shows the impact of Stiff Person Syndrome on her life. Dion hopes to create awareness.
Amazon MGM Studios announced Tuesday that it has purchased the rights to the documentary. Me: Celine Dion Directed by Academy Award nominee Erin Taylor.
The documentary sheds light on Dion's long career, but the present also plays a role. “The last few years have been incredibly challenging for me,” the singer says in a press release about the period following her diagnosis with a rare neurological disorder, Stiff Person Syndrome.
She says this challenge came from “the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live and deal with it, without letting it define my condition.”
“As I tried to restart my career as an artist, I realized how much I missed seeing my fans,” she says. “During this absence, I decided to document this part of my life to raise awareness about this little-known condition and help others who have received this diagnosis as well.”
