Bassett also fails at Sittard and returns to America

Cole Bassett Leaving the Netherlands after less than a year. The midfielder, who joined Feyenoord on loan from Colorado Rapids last season, has been loaned out to Fortuna Sittard this season.

In Sittard, the American talent wanted to fulfill his promise with a detour in the Netherlands, but this failed. Bassett now returns to his native country without any notable service.

Feyenoord period

Bassett came to De Guip on loan last winter. He is known as a top talent in America and will be hired by Feyenoord for a year and a half. However, in South Rotterdam, the rental agreement has already been canceled after six months, which will last until the summer of 2023. He played just 85 minutes in seven appearances in the second half of the season and was left out of Arne Slott’s Conference League squad.

Revenge of the Sittard

It was announced in August that the loan agreement between Feyenoord and Colorado had been canceled as Fortuna Sittard could give Basset an extra perspective on playing minutes. It never got to the point where the American became a fundamental player in Sittard. The mercenaries could not live up to it in his experiments and under Julio Velázquez he mainly acted as bank filler. In the last game against FC Groningen, he played in the starting lineup, but even then he did not make enough of an impact.

The lease between Bassett and Fortuna initially ran until December 31. Due to the early winter break, it was decided to part ways early.
