At least ten people were killed and ten others injured in a shooting in a suburb of Los Angeles on Saturday night (local time). The police are speaking, according to the news agency AP About a mass shooting after celebrating the Asian New Year (Lunar New Year).
According to the police, it is a male shooter who is still on the run. He allegedly opened fire in a Monterey Park dance hall. It is not yet clear if he had a racist motive.
Pictures can be seen on social media of paramedics tending to the wounded and officers protecting the scene of the shooting.
Police said that at least ten injured people were transferred to various hospitals in the area. Many people are in critical condition.
A big Asian New Year’s Eve party was held at that location earlier in the day. Thousands of visitors came to see it.
