Appointment of the Chair of the Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council | news item

Dr. EEW (Eppo) Bruins has become Chair of the Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) Advisory Board. The Cabinet approved the nomination for appointment on the proposal of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Djgraf. The appointment is effective April 1, 2022 for a term of four years.
Ibo Bruins is a physicist and was a Member of Parliament for ChristenUnie until March 2021. He was among others the spokesperson for education, science, economics and innovation. Prior to his membership in Parliament, Bruins was director of the STW Technology Foundation and the NWO Technology Science District. He currently works as an independent consultant at the interface of science, technology, innovation, governance and policy, with specializations in knowledge transfer and knowledge management in public and private networks, science-policy liaison and in the supervision of projects related to knowledge institutions.
AWTI is one of the independent strategic councils of government and parliament and falls under the joint responsibility of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate. AWTI provides policy advice in the field of science, technology and innovation and how policies can ensure a significant impact of science, technology and innovation on society and the economy.
