Apple says goodbye to the iPod after more than twenty years | right Now

The company said on Tuesday that Apple will stop production of its iPod music player. The iPod Touch, the last model made by Apple, will still be available while supplies are available. This model has not been updated in recent years, so the finish is not entirely unexpected.

iPods were a popular way to listen to music, especially at the beginning of this century, before smartphones took over.

Apple released its first iPod in late 2001. This model provided space for a thousand songs. Later models got smaller and smaller and made more room for music. Some models got a color screen to watch movies on. iPods can be recognized by a circular button for the controls, the so-called click dial. By rotating it with a finger, users can navigate through their music list.

In 2007, Apple introduced the iPod Touch, a kind of iPhone without a phone function. The latest generation of this was launched in 2019.

Due to the advent of smartphones, fewer and fewer music players have been sold for years. Music streaming services also reduced the demand for players, as you had to place music files manually.
