American boxing legend Marvin Hagler, 66, dies | sport

Former American professional boxer Marvin Hagler has passed away at the age of 66. His wife announced the death of the former world champion on Facebook. Marvelous Marvin Hagler died at his home in New Hampshire.




In the 1980s Hagler dominated boxing in the middleweight category. In his professional career, he has played 67 matches, of which he won 62. This happened 52 times by knockout, and on one occasion he himself fell.

Hagler successfully defended his title 12 times, but eventually lost it controversially to Sugar Ray Leonard in 1987 This also immediately ended his 14-year boxing career. He then moved on to work as a boxing actor and commentator, among other things.

The nickname “Marvelous Marvin Hagler” was also on his passport. He obtained this name legally in 1982.
