AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT processor can be overclocked to Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti
user named Yuri Buble He managed to overclock the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT to the level of the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti, he claimed. He achieved this by introducing his own application called Radeon Monster Profile (RMP). This allows Bubliy to boost the performance of AMD’s RDNA 2 GPUs by adjusting the frequency and voltage curve.
Bubliy claims that their RMP can be better than AMD’s Adrenaline. In 3DMark: Time Spy, the Radeon RX 6800 XT scored 13 percent better than the benchmark, bumping the GPU up to the RTX 3090 Ti. Bubliy claims to be creating new, homemade voltage and frequency curves for Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.
He specifically looked at memory, reducing memory frequency by six percent. This reduced heat production on the gddr6 memory chips. “The main mechanism to increase performance is to increase the base frequency required relative to the operating voltage.” The result is an increased GPU frequency of 300MHz, without the need to factory settings for thermal throttling and fans. It also indicates that using a non-reference video card with a good cooler should not be a problem for this profile. According to Bubliy, its overclocking profile does not increase the operating voltage or current limit. “Profiles are universal and adaptable.”
RMP is expected this fall.
