Alpine always has a seat available for Alonso if he wants to go to WEC and Le Mans after F1

Fernando Alonso appears to want to continue in Formula 1 with the Alps for a while, but once the 40-year-old decides to end his career in the first division, Albin has an endurance racing seat on offer.

This says Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi, who noted that this has also been discussed with the Spaniard. In addition to being a talented driver, Alonso is also an attractive ambassador for sports car manufacturer Alpine.

“Fernando is a legend not only in sports, but also in the Renault group,” explains Rossi with Alpine, part of the French manufacturer, and Alonso, who won the championship with Renault in 2005 and 2006.

Other automakers working on a supercar to enter WEC in the coming years include Porsche, Cadillac, Ferrari and Acura (Honda’s American luxury arm). ByKolles (with Vanwall) and Lamborghini will likely also come with hypercars.

Alonso as motivation
