Good news for team boss Lefevre: Jacobsen is back | sport

Fabio Jacobsen may return to professional competition next month in the Tour of Turkey, which begins on April 11. According to manager Patrick Lefevre of Deceuninck – Quick-Step, the sprinter is about seven months after his heavy fall at the Tour of Poland before returning. “Hopefully he can get back in the Tour of Turkey,” Belgian team boss told VTM Nieuws.

“Fabio spent a month in Spain with his girlfriend to train,” said Lefevre. ,, His girlfriend is riding a motorcycle, which is easy to use. It would be great to start the Turkey tour. Then we’ll see his progress.”

Jacobsen was crushed at high speed by Dylan Groenwegen in a sprint at the end of the first stage in Poland in August and flew through fences. He lost almost all of his teeth in the fall. Jacobsen also suffered cracks and fractures in his skull and palate, and a broken nose. He underwent another operation on his face in February and had implants in his upper and lower jaw.

Lefevre said he is in regular contact with the Dutch runner. We regularly send WhatsApp or call. At first it was hard to speak because of his battered mouth and all the surgeries.”
