The stands will be opened in Liège, “regardless of closing rules”

In Liège, restaurant operators are preparing to open on May 1. The stands will open after that, regardless of what the advisory committee decides. Many decided this after County Governor Hervey Jammar indicated that he would not object if the stands were to open on May 1.

For the mayor of Liège, opening the stands is the answer to ending the many closures. “The Liege police are tired. They are finding it increasingly difficult to intervene. When asked if the police will intervene on May 1,” he replied, “I don’t think so in the stands.”

Several district mayors have already said that they will follow the initiative. However, according to the Walloon News Service, it is mainly about a way to put pressure on the advisory committee on Wednesday. If then it is decided that the catering industry is not permitted to open, that could cause problems as it is a federal decision.
