Utrecht The fourth edition of Utrecht Science Week will take place from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, October 6. After that, the Utrecht Science Park will open its doors wide open for more than a week to anyone interested in (applied) science.
Almost all programme components have now been announced and the block schedule is live. More programme components will follow in the coming weeks. In collaboration with various partners at Utrecht Science Park, a varied programme has been put together, including engaging lectures, interactive workshops, guided tours and controversial interviews, about science at Utrecht Science Park, with a focus on the themes of “Health” and “Sustainability”.
Utrecht Science Week kicks off on Friday 27 September with the Science in Utrecht lecture by Prof. Dr. Peter Luyten. On Wednesday evening there is the Utrecht Science Week Pub Quiz, which of course focuses on science, the Utrecht Science Park and the city of Utrecht. On Thursday, visitors can discover what healthcare and laboratories will look like in the future at the Genmab Healthcare and Laboratories of the Future conference. Utrecht Science Week ends with a section for younger visitors, because it is a science weekend. But there is much more to it, so check out the full programme at www.utrechtscienceweek.nl/programma-2024/
In Utrecht Science Park, the largest science park in the Netherlands, more than 55,000 students and 30,000 employees work together to develop and implement pioneering science and solutions in the field of life sciences, health and sustainability. Utrecht Science Week would like to highlight the importance and results of this collaboration. To inspire, to make a bigger difference together. To strengthen and expand existing collaborations and to discover promising new alliances and collaborations. There are programme components for employees, students, graduates and professionals in the field of life sciences, health care and sustainability, but there is also a lot of interesting things to experience for the wider public and the younger target group from Utrecht and the surrounding area.
Science Weekend
As part of Utrecht Science Week, the Science Weekend will take place on the weekend of October 5th and 6th. Everyone is welcome, because science is of course for everyone, but the focus is on families with children aged 8 to 14. No less than eight organizations from the Utrecht Science Park have come up with great activities to introduce visitors to science in all its aspects.
The participating organisations are: Utrecht University (and Botanical Gardens), Hubrecht Institute, Westerdijk Institute, UMC Utrecht, Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, Princess Máxima Centre, KNMI, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. The KNMI will open on October 5 and the other organisations on October 6.
