Taylor Swift’s first fans are already queuing at the Johan Cruyff Arena. The city has banned overnight stays outside the stadium, so the first fans were already at the square at dawn to get the best spot.
Tonight is the first concert in a series of three. All concerts are sold out. There is space for 55,000 visitors per show.
Maya (15), Jeske (15), Vinny (17) and Anaïs (15) come from Leiden and have been there since 5:45 a.m. “Our parents say: you are crazy,” they tell an AT5 reporter. “But it is once in a lifetime.”
Taylor Swift is one of the most popular artists around the world right now. The singer has broken many records in recent years, and her current tour sold out in no time.
Don’t stay overnight
The city had previously announced that it did not want Taylor Swift fans to stand in lines for days and would enforce it. This has become a regular practice in recent years, as fans want a good place to be.
So the municipality is not allowing people visiting Swift’s concert to camp and spend the night around the square. “The police are supervising and can issue fines if visitors do not follow the instructions,” the municipality’s website said on Monday.
Yesterday afternoon, there were already long lines in front of the place where the singer’s merchandise was on sale.
