“The importance of healthy eating is of paramount importance in Chinese medicine. Eating well prevents diseases. We can help people with the help of Chinese medicine, such as herbs and acupuncture, but seventy percent of that is done by the client themselves, through good eating habits.”
These are the words of Ling Zhang from Den Helder’s acupuncturist Ye Xiaotang. I recently gave a workshop at the Asian Delight restaurant in Nikadel in De Koog. “I like to give people information about Chinese medicine and show them how they can incorporate our healthy diet into everyday life. That’s why I gave the workshop. Often times people have digestive problems, which are often due to their diet. It starts with In the morning, many people eat cold foods, such as yogurt, salad, or fruit. Your body temperature is 36 degrees. Yogurt or salad is about seven degrees. This is a difference of thirty degrees, and the body cannot handle that at all, so the food is not digested properly True, leading to constipation, abdominal pain, or diarrhea.
Chinese medicine believes the following about the disadvantages of eating too cold food: “Cold food is not only cold food and cold drinks straight from the refrigerator, but also food that is difficult to digest. Raw food is an example of “cold” food because the body loses a lot of digestive heat to digest it. This It creates a ‘cold centre’ and weakens the earth element. Low digestive energy means you feel full quickly and your stomach bloats, causing stomach pain and diarrhea which is why we recommend eating hot meals three times a day in all seasons.”
Ling worked with a large group and was passionate about teaching them how to prepare healthy food in a frying pan. “Wok cooking contains different elements. Fire represents your heart, metal represents lungs, green vegetables represent wood, you are a source of supply and peanuts are the earth element and are good for the spleen and stomach. Of course, stir-frying should also be done with water. When all the elements come together, It is useful and healthy for the members. I am very busy with my usual work, but I would like to see if we can offer more workshops in the future. People can email me if they are interested and when I start teaching new courses, I will contact them.
