Harlem – Protesters in Harlem organize a project about the universe in art and science. On June 9th, the universe takes center stage in art, with poetry, music, and painting. On June 13, physicist Peter Cloete, who was present when the Higgs boson was discovered, will give a lecture on the universe.
A special service dedicated to the universe will be held on June 9 at 10.30am. Many professional artists have collaborated to depict the universe in their own art form. For example, the piece “Dwarf Planets” by Huep Henriques (astronomer, composer and photographer) will be performed by Geri Myers on piano, artwork by Vera Brueggemann will be displayed and poems by Gerard Bentjes will be recited. It’s all about the universe. pastor. Sabine de Croo leads this service.
A lecture with discussion will be organized on June 13 at 7:30 pm. How did the universe originate? Did it really come out of nowhere? How is that possible? Peter Cloete, naturalist and philosopher, talks about these topics. Discusses how unique (life on) Earth is and what we all don’t know. Using expressive images, Cloete tells more about the universe and our place in it. Cloete is a researcher at Nikhef and focuses on elementary particle physics. He participated in the ATLAS experiment at CERN, and was present when the Higgs boson was discovered.
Both events are held at Remonstrant Church in Harlem and are free to attend. Please register via [email protected].
