An architecture firm and developer want to build the tallest skyscraper in Oklahoma, USA.
Earlier this month, architecture firm AO and developer Madson Capital unveiled the boardwalk at Bricktown, a skyscraper complex in the US state of Oklahoma that will become the second tallest building in the US. But they changed the design in an attempt to make it the tallest building in the country.
It ranks sixth in the world
The proposed complex consists of three small towers approximately 100 meters high and one skyscraper: the Legends Tower. The latter has now been increased from 533 meters to 581 meters (also 1907 feet, Oklahoma became the 46th US state in 1907).
The new design makes the tower 35 meters taller than the current tallest building in the United States, One World Trade Center (546 meters). Globally it ranks sixth behind the Ping An Financial Center in China (599 meters). The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (828 meters).
Permissions are yet to be finalised
The Boardwalk at Bricktown (the entire complex) offers space for 1,776 homes, two hotels, shops, restaurants and various recreational facilities. The upper floors of the Legends Tower will have an observation deck with a restaurant and bar.
It remains to be seen if the Legends Tower will actually be built. The building permit for the previous design of the skyscraper is yet to be obtained. Because of these changes, they will take longer to arrive.
