Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will face each other again in Saudi Arabia in February. Then Inter Miami, led by Messi, will play a friendly match against Al-Nasr, led by Ronaldo, in the Riyadh Season Cup competitions.
The match is being promoted as “The Last Dance” because it could be the last time the two best players play against each other. The exact date of the performance has not yet been announced.
Ronaldo, 38 years old, and Messi, who is two years younger than him, fought many duels in the past, especially during their shared period in Spain. Messi played for FC Barcelona between 2004 and 2021, while Ronaldo played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018. In total they played 36 official matches against each other. Messi won sixteen matches, compared to eleven for Ronaldo.
Messi has been playing with Inter Miami since last summer. Ronaldo was brought to Saudi Arabia by Al-Nasr early this year.
Later on Tuesday, the Argentine club Inter Miami denied the American club’s agreement to play two matches in Saudi Arabia. “Earlier today it was announced that Inter Miami will play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is not true,” Inter Miami said. “The statement included statements attributed to team owner Jorge Mas. Mas has not commented, publicly or privately, regarding the pre-season trip. We look forward to introducing our players to Inter Miami’s first international tour, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
