The streaming services HBO Max and Discovery Plus will continue together as one streaming service. Although the two streaming services are already available independently in the Netherlands, they will soon continue together under one name. The new streaming service will also come to Belgium in 2024.
The exact name is still unclear. HBO Max and Discovery Plus have already been combined in the US under the “Max” name. However, in the Netherlands we already have “Omroep Max”, and to avoid confusion (and Omroep Max objection) they decided to come up with a different name. It is still unclear what name will be coined for the combined streaming service in Belgium and the Netherlands.
This is the first time Belgium will be introduced to HBO Max and Discovery Plus offerings. HBO shows can currently be found primarily on Streamz. After current agreements expire, the content is expected to be available exclusively on the combined streaming service of HBO Max and Discovery Plus.
More from Warner Bros. Discovery
Previously, Warner Media and Discovery Inc were combined into Warner Bros. Discovery. Therefore, the need for two different apps for HBO Max and Discovery+ is no longer necessary. It is now affiliated with the same company. The integration of the two streaming services will begin in 2024 in the Netherlands and Belgium. It’s still unclear exactly how everything will work then and what will happen if you now have a subscription to both services.
