January 24: Rob “Ruby” Rensenbrink (72), a footballer, with the Dutch national team in the 1974 and 1978 World Cups, a legendary shot-to-post, was active in Belgium at Club Brugge and Anderlecht.
January 26: Globally recognized as one of the greatest athletes of his generation, Kobe Bryant, 41, an American basketball player, died with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a tragic helicopter accident in California.
February 16: Barry Holshof (73), a footballer, won the first European Cup three times with Ajax and the World Cup in 1972, and played fourteen games with Orange.
April 28: Dutch goalkeeper Eddie Peters Gravland (86) is considered to be one of the best Dutch goalkeepers of all time.
July 10th: Lara van Ruijfen (27), a speed skater, was the first Dutch woman to win the World Short Track 500m title in 2019. She died in Perpignan Hospital after a disorder in her immune system.
July 12: Wim Sorber (75), a footballer, has won the European Cup 1 three times with Ajax, and has played sixty matches with Orange, including the World Cup Finals (lost), and a comic duo with Rod Kroll.
September 25: Frans Dirks (89), referee, active in professional football for three decades, television brilliant personality, chairman of the Dordrecht club.
October 13: Father Crook (76), ski instructor, senior sports coordinator for the KNSB Skating Union, national coach, has participated in nine Olympic Games as a coach / supervisor.
November 10: Charles Korver (84), the highest international referee who has managed four European finals and has been active in several finals, is notorious for the 1982 World Cup semi-final accident when he missed a “attack” from West German goalkeeper Tony. Schumacher on the French player Patrick Battiston.
November 16: Harry Van Reig (84), president of PSV, was elected in 2004 as the most important filmmaker in professional football history, and a welcome guest on radio and television programs.
November 18: Bim Duisburg (77), goalkeeper for PSV and Sparta, footballer with more (687) games in First Division, coach of goalkeepers in Orange, Sparta and Feyenoord.
November 25: Diego Armando Maradona (60), Argentine football legend, is often mentioned at the same time as Johan Cruyff and Pele. His country was awarded the world title in 1986, and he played with Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Napoli, Barcelona, Seville.
December 2: Frank Kramer (73), Eurosport commentator, presenter, singer, played soccer for Telstar, MVV and Volendam, introduced Hints, Boggle, Sterrenslag, with Full House Hit Standing on the Inside
