MPs Van der Molen (CDA) and Kwint (SP) took the initiative to convene a roundtable discussion on student welfare.

In recent years, the topic of student welfare has increasingly appeared on the Council’s agenda. Commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Trimbos Institute, in collaboration with RIVM and GGD GHOR Netherlands Monitoring mental health and substance use for higher education students released. This indicates that students suffer from performance pressure, loneliness and other mental problems.

Causes of mental problems and possible solutions

By conducting this round table discussion, the committee wants to know more about the underlying causes of students’ mental problems and what can be done about it. The following points can be discussed in the round table discussion:

– Possible solutions to mental problems for students of higher education and vocational education.
