Sonic Origins releases June 23 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles, and PlayStation consoles. The bundle includes four Sonic games originally released for the Sega Mega Drive. Sonic Origins was already announced last year, but there hasn’t been a specific release date yet.
The package contains a remaster of Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles and Sonic CD and will cost around 40 euros. Sega also has A luxury version of Sonic Origins has been announced for 45 euros. This version includes more challenging missions, animated characters in the main menu, and exclusive music tracks from Sonic games in Mega Drive. There’s also a pre-order bonus for both versions of Sonic Origins, which gives you a hundred coins and includes a mode where you can play reverse levels.
The release date of the game coincides with the 31st anniversary of the creation of the blue hedgehog. The first Sonic game was released on June 23, 1991 for the Sega Mega Drive. It became the best-selling video game of that year. By the end of 1991, two million copies of Sonic the Hedgehog had been sold worldwide.
A year later, Sonic 2, which introduced Tails Sonic’s sidekick, was released. The Sonic CD appeared in 1993 and can only be played when the Mega Drive came with a Mega-CD expansion. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a hybrid of Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, both of which appeared in 1994. The Sonic & Knuckles cartridge has an adapter that the Sonic 3 cartridge can be connected to.
