Milan van Waardenburg (Jean Valjean), Freek Bartels (Javert) and Vajèn van den Bosch (Eponine) play the main roles in the new version. Channah Hewitt (Fantine), Ellen Pieters (Madame Thenardier), Mark Roy Luykx (Enjolras), and Sem Gerritsma (Cosette) are also cast. The names of the remaining roles will be announced later.
Les Misérables is one of the most successful musicals of all time. The play, based on Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name, has been running since 1986 in London’s West End. It is the longest running musical in the UK. The performance has also been performed on Broadway in New York for years.
In the Netherlands, Joop van den Ende produced the first Dutch-language version in 1991 with, among others, Pia Doys, Henk Port, Ernst Daniel Smed, Jock de Cruyff, Simon Kleinsma and Paul de Leeuw. For some of them, this performance was a breakthrough.
In 2008, Les Misérables returned and toured the country for over a year, then with Rene van Coten, Wim van den Drich, Jamai Lohmann and Nurella Karim, among others. Frick Bartels was already around at the time, but he played Engulras.
Ticket sales for shows in Carré began immediately on Tuesday.
