Surfline, official forecasters for the 2014/2015 ASP BWWT season, are reporting the following:
We continue to track this significant SW swell for Peru and have watched it build on the buoy located offshore of the Peru/Chile border on Wednesday. This buoy is an excellent 16-20-hour indicator for swells of this direction and swell period for Pico Alto.
Based on this data, we will see very solid surf at daybreak (and in the pre-dawn hours) potentially slow down a bit through the mid morning, before pulsing back in the late morning and early afternoon.
We’re still expecting surf in the 25’-40’ range on the face during the better sets throughout the day. The biggest waves of the day may be even a little larger. Conditions will be cleanest in the morning with light/variable to light onshore S wind, with building onshore S wind in the afternoon around 9-12kts.
The Billabong Pico Alto will be webcast LIVE via ASPWorldTour.com
Kelly Slater (USA), Alex Gray (USA), Kohl Christenson (HAW) and Renzo Zazzali (PER) have withdrawn from the event. They have been replaced by Will Skudin (USA), Sebastian de Romana (PER), Adur Letamendia (EUK) and Grant Washburn (USA).
The 2014/2015 BWWT season is divided into Southern Hemisphere and Northern Hemisphere components hosting three possible events within each.
