With Round 5 and the Quarter-Finals finished today in three-to-four foot surf, only quartet of surfers remain to take the water on the final day of competition.
Arguably, Michel Bourez, Joel Parkinson, Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater are the form surfers so far. With the competition rumoured to be moving to Kirra for the final day, the anticipation is building around the surf world that quality waves will be on offer.
Bourez and Parkinson will be in Semi-Final 1 tomorrow with Slater and Fanning facing off in Semi-final 2. Both of the foreign competitors, in order to claim the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast title, have the monumental task of knocking out both of the Gold Coast locals.
Bourez through the early rounds has shown us why he is considered one of the most powerful surfers in the world, with an impressive display to knock out the defending champ Taj Burrow.
Slater notched a Quarter-Final score of 18.03 against a resurgent Bede Durbidge, while Mick Fanning knocked out the only remaining goofy footer in Matt Wilkinson.
It will be a final day not to be missed!
