Spectator pole-axed at Tour de France

The age-old problem of spectators getting in the way of cyclists in the Tour de France has been a major talking point from the outset of the 2014 event.

The ‘selfie’ craze has seen the instances of fans taking stupid risks skyrocket – and competitors are understandably becoming more and more agitated.

The spectators’ obsession with getting as close to the action as possible garnered a painful lesson during Stage 2 for one snap-happy gent, who was pole-axed by a rider in spectacular fashion.

Thankfully, the cyclist remained on his bike and carried on – but often that is not the case, and the moronic actions of fans has the capacity to ruin a rider’s day.
