In honor of the Olympics wrapping up, we take a look back at the 2008 Gold Medal game between the US and Spain. Spain had kept with the United States for the bulk of the final, taking the lead back and forth, and keeping it a two-point game until eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
That’s when Kobe Bryant decided to take over. Bryant would bury contested shots and deep threes en route to a US victory, as the “Redeem Team” would get the US back the gold medal after losing it in Athens four years before. It would be Kobe’s first Olympic gold.
