QPR grab consolation goal of the season

If ever a consolation goal actually meant something, this is it.

Any points were already well beyond Queens Park Rangers when they trailed Crystal Palace 3-0 at half-time.

Still, when Matt Phillips smashed home a 40-yard screamer, the relegation-threatened visitors at least salvaged some headlines.

Spectacular.

‘The Rs’ did of course go on to lose and have plenty to do in the final nine games of the Premier League season if they’re to escape the bottom three.

Meanwhile, Mile Jedinak’s Palace seem safe in 12th after improving results under Alan Pardew.
