Socceroos star Aaron Mooy has ensured Huddersfield Town’s fairytale start to life in the English Premier League continues, blasting home a brilliant 50th-minute goal in a 1-0 win over fellow promotion side Newcastle at John Smith’s Stadium.

The match was the Terriers’ first at home in the top flight for 45 years, earning Mooy a piece of history and Town a share of the competition lead with Manchester United and West Brom.

Mooy, vital to Huddersfield’s stunning rise to EPL status last season, has enjoyed a dream entry to the big time, producing two goal assists in the stunning 3-0 opening-week rout of Crystal Palace in before producing a goal that is set to go down club folklore.

A veteran of 26 internationals for Australia, Mooy was named Huddersfield Town’s player of the year in 2016/17 after being loaned to the club from Manchester City.
