Manchester United have pulled off a major coup as a stunning turnaround saw seemingly Real Madrid-bound goalkeeper David de Gea agree to a new deal that keeps him at the club for another four years.
De Gea appeared to be off to Spain on the last day of the transfer window, with Manchester United having accepted the late £19m offer from Real Madrid, and Keylor Navas moving to Old Trafford. However, the deal failed to be completed on time, each club blaming the other for the breakdown.
Manchester United appear to have convinced the ‘keeper that they acted impeccably in the matter, having accepted Real’s terms with enough time left for the deal to happen, and the overwhelming support from everyone around the club persuaded the Spanish keeper that his future lay at Manchester United.
In what some view to be a frustrating transfer window for the Red Devils, the feelgood factor around the club could see this become their most successful signing of the summer.
