Ujah takes football’s GOAT obsession too far

Generally, any GOAT is a rightfully revered figure in sport.

Michael Jordan, Don Bradman, Pele – these types of legends are deserving of our admiration, and have been adorned with the Greatest of All Time tag in their respective fields.

Sadly one footballer has failed to pay the same respect to Hennes, the mascot of German Bundesliga club FC Cologne.

Nigerian forward Anthony Ujah celebrated with unnecessary enthusiasm after scoring in his side’s 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, aggressively grabbing the horns of the beloved animal.

Hennes, named for former player and manager Hennes Weisweiler, is present at Cologne’s home matches in keeping with the club’s nickname, ‘The Billy Goats’.

Thankfully the goat was unharmed and, to his credit, Ujah has apologised and even helped Hennes celebrate his eighth birthday.
