Records keep tumbling for Messi

Just three days after becoming La Liga’s all-time leading goal-scorer, Argentine megastar Lionel Messi broke Raul’s record for the most goals in Champions League history with a superb hat-trick in Barcelona’s 4-0 drubbing of Apoel Nicosia.

Messi has now scored 74 goals in the hallowed competition.

All three of Messi’s goals were the result of excellent lead-up work by his Barca teammates, finished off by the No.10’s deft touch in front of goal. The match was also notable for chomp-happy Uruguayan Luis Suarez scoring his first Champions League goal in four years.
