We’ve picked out our favourite social media moments of the past week for the first instalment of Commentary Box Social.

Lussick wins ‘most awkward’ award

Usually it’s Nathan Peats cracking funnies on Twitter at Darcy Lussick’s expense, but this time the Manly enforcer brought the house down. Titans rake Peats was squirming while watching James Graham and Aaron Woods discuss the Bulldogs’ salary cap fiasco on NRL360, but Lussick revealed he had endured something waaaaay more awkward earlier that day…

Peats blows up

Meanwhile, Peats had had a gutsful of the media coverage of the controversy engulfing his club and beleaguered coach Neil Henry.

Red Devils court ‘The Beast’

It’s fair to say your average Manchester United fan has never heard of Salford’s newest acquisition, NRL and Warriors icon Manu Vatuvei, but one of football’s most famous clubs was quick to pursue ‘The Beast’s’ affections as he weighed up whether to align with the red or blue side of his new hometown. Nice wordplay!

Hastings blasts trashy Tele

The Daily Telegraph sparked outrage with their pathetic ‘article’ about Erin Molan, and Manly utility Jackson Hastings wasn’t having a bar of it.

Ex-Big League editor Fiona Bollen, who now works for the Tele as editor of the excellent Swoop, also deserves massive kudos for speaking out against the ill-advised piece.

Betham urges fans to buy Warriors

With owner Eric Watson looking to offload the embattled New Zealand Warriors, former club favourite Monty Betham took to Facebook to spruik a novel crowdfunding solution to the underachieving outfit’s problems.

Commentary Box Sports’ Editor-in-Chief and Warriors tragic Will Evans wasn’t sure if it was worth splashing the cash for.

Back to school time for Aaron Smith

All Blacks star Aaron Smith’s Christchurch airport toilet tryst has reared its head again on the eve of the opening Bledisloe Test, and fans are having a field day with the halfback’s poor command of the English language.

Baseball to the groin

A wayward first pitch led to a magnificent Hans Moleman moment.

Start ’em early

A bit of cuteness to round out the first edition of #CommBoxSocial.
