Veteran All Blacks prop John Afoa grabbed a try for Gloucester in their 55-19 win over Worcester, with former New Zealand Warriors, Newcastle Knights and Wallabies winger Cooper Vuna scoring of the losing side’s three tries.

At Twickenham, Auckland-born winger Denny Solomona, who defected from rugby league under controversial circumstances at the end of last year, crossed for a double as his Sale Sharks fell just short in a 29-26 loss to Harlequins.

The brace marked three tries for Solomona in as many weeks, following his incredible feat in the UK Super League last year when he scored over 40 tries across the season.

In France, Victor Vito got over the line in La Rochelle’s 22-8 win over Castres Olympique, with Perth’s Zack Holmes kicking for 17 points in the victory.

In the south ex-Wallaby Joseph Tomane scored a vital late try for Montpellier in a 31-23 win over Bordeaux-Begles.
