Slater, ACC Take Charity Surf Comp

The dynamic duo of Kelly Slater and Adam Ashley-Cooper proved too good in the water at the Waratahs Komunity Project Surf Pro Am today.

On a idyllic Sydney day a massive crowd turned out for the Waratahs and Komunity Project Surf Pro Am Tournament held today at Manly Beach.

The exciting tournament saw world class surfers including legendary Kelly Slater, celebrities, local community riders and five HSBC Waratahs’ players all fight it out in the water in a highly anticipated contest of some of Australia’s best sporting talent.

Organised into six mixed teams of four, all teams put on a brilliant show and competed well in the heats. The final was out of Team 1 (Adam Ashley-Cooper, Kelly Slater, Clint Kimmins, and KP promo board rider) and Team 4 (Phil Waugh, Simon Anderson, Jesse Pollock, Jamie Krumps) with Kelly Slater and Adam Ashley Cooper’s team proving unbeatable and taking out the Waratahs and Komunity Project Surf Pro Am title.

With a bustling crowd and perfect conditions at Manly beach it was a hugely successful and enjoyable day for all fans and spectators alike. Sponsored by the HSBC Waratahs’ sleeve sponsor Volvo Cars with the support of Manly Council, the event raised money for Surfers Against Suicide, an initiative created by Komunity Project to reduce death by suicide.
