Rugby HQ Top 5 Sevens moments

Substandard promotion of the Gold Coast Rugby Sevens is set to ensure the disappointing crowd turnouts of the past few seasons does not improve, but the Rugby HQ boys are nonetheless pumped for the Australia-hosted opening leg of the IRB World Sevens circuit this weekend.

For this week’s Top 5, they’ve put the Wallabies’ woes on the backburner to instead focus on the fun and festivities Sevens Rugby entails, recalling their best moments from the abbreviated form of the game.

Sean Maloney and Tim Horan even got into the dress-up spirit that the crowd brings to Sevens events around the world, donning Toy Story character costumes to take us through the Top 5.

The entertaining countdown features the Kenyan team’s in-goal dance in Las Vegas; Spain flyer Ignacio Martin’s freakish try against the USA last year; the Australian women’s team’s unbelievable comeback from 20 points down to win 2013’s Dubai final against New Zealand; Hasino San’s infamous bombed try for Japan in Hong Kong earlier this year; and Fijian Will Ryder’s breathtaking 100-metre try against New Zealand in the 2007 Hong Kong tournament.
