The NRC’s second season produced a bounty of spectacular tries once again, and the Rugby HQ team has sifted through dozens of contenders to list the top three of 2015.
At No.3 is Queensland Country winger Pierce Fitzgerald’s six-pointer against Perth Spirit after some elusive hot-stepping from fullback Elliot Hagen.
The runner-up gong goes to an incredible 80-metre double-act from Brisbane City’s Liam Gill and Junior Laloifi, who passed between each other three times before the latter crossed in the corner – again at Perth’s expense.
Winger Laloifi finished miles out in front on the top try-scorers list with 14 – six clear of Sydney’s Harry Jones, while Jarrad Butler (UC Vikings), Josh Holmes (North Harbour) and Samu Kerevi (Brisbane City) all finished with seven tries.
And the try deemed the best of the 2015 NRC campaign went to fullback Aidan Toua of the University of Canberra Vikings, who pulled out a blistering show of speed, footwork and skill in a 70-metre special.
