Dylan Napa has been hailed as Queensland’s modern-day version of Gorden Tallis ahead of his long-awaited State of Origin debut next Wednesday.

The fiery redhead immediately garnered a reputation as a budding enforcing after bursting onto the NRL scene.

Throwback Thursday takes you to Napa’s third first grade appearance, in the Roosters’ away trip to play the Sharks late in the 2013 regular season. The young giant fearlessly went after Paul Gallen in one of the most memorable individual confrontations of recent seasons.

This hit from a kick-off rocked the foundations in the Shire.

Napa’s seek-and-destroy mission on the Test stalwart unwittingly sparked a Twitter war between ex-coach Brian Smith, who tweeted, “He ran at him once and got smashed next two times he ran away from him to avoid further embarrassment.”

Gallen’s account, which the Sharks skipper later claimed his father, Garry Gallen, had taken control of, replied: “Looking forward to the time I run into u Brian u couldn’t play couldn’t coach your just a sad…”
