Thaiday to miss 1 week

Sam Thaiday has been suspended for one match for making contact with a referee in Brisbane’s loss to the Storm last Friday night.

From a scrum in the first half, Melbourne’s fullback Billy Slater scored a try off the back of what seemed to be a perfectly executed backline move. As Billy broke the line Sam was being held in the scrum which clearly opened up a gap in the defensive line.

Brisbane’s captain pleaded to the judiciary that he was merely demonstrating the incident that occurred in the previous play. However, he did outline that he didn’t have to make contact with the referee to get his point across.

There was absolutely nothing malicious about Thaiday’s actions.

The Broncos have lost three out of their first four games and take on the inform Titans at Skilled Park on Friday night (7:35pm AEST).
