Shaun Johnson opens up about recovery from injury

Injured New Zealand Warriors superstar Shaun Johnson has opened up about his recovery from the broken ankle injury he suffered three weeks ago against Manly.

The brilliant halfback suffered the devastating setback when his leg got caught awkwardly under a Sea Eagles defender while scoring yet another mind-blowing solo try.

The 24-year-old appeared on a New Zealand current affairs program yesterday to talk about the gruesome scars his operation left, the mental difficulties he endured during the first two weeks of recovery, the experience of watching the Warriors play as a ‘fan’, and his likely schedule for returning to full training.

After a brave 18-14 loss to Cronulla in their first match without their linchpin, the Warriors were pumped 36-0 by St George Illawarra in Wellington and are fading fast from the finals picture with four rounds to go.
