In the second instalment of his NRL Recruitment Watch series, NICK TEDESCHI looks at who the Brisbane Broncos are chasing, who they should be going after, and the areas on the roster that need shoring up for 2018.
Needs: The Broncos are on the lookout for a halfback following the departure of Ben Hunt, though the surprising acquisition of Jack Bird could see him move into an unlikely halves pairing with Anthony Milford. Brisbane will also likely chase a quality outside back with a few off-contract and seemingly set to depart.

2018 Recruits: Jack Bird
2018 Losses: Ben Hunt
Off-Contract: Darius Boyd, Adam Blair, James Roberts, Jordan Kahu, Alex Glenn, Joe Ofahengaue, Benji Marshall
Rumours: Brisbane have been strongly linked to Ashley Taylor and have been chasing him relentlessly for over a year, but Taylor seems settled at the Titans and it is unlikely he will leave, at least until his deal ends in 2018. Tuimoala Lolohea is set to leave the Warriors and the Broncos are believed to be interested, but the Tigers and Cowboys appear to have got the jump.
Ashley Taylor can you come back to Broncos please

Players to Target: Ashley Taylor is clearly priority No.1 for Brisbane and would be an excellent fit as an organisational half should be the top priority. If Taylor remains a Titan as expected teammate Tyrone Roberts could shift to the Broncos. Nelson Asofa-Solomona could come into calculations if salary cap room allows. Gideon Gela-Mosby could be a cheapie out wide while Blake Ferguson would be in the mix to shift north if James Roberts is released.
