It took 20 minutes for the first points, and they didn’t come easy. Roosters 5/8 James Maloney powering his way over the line, even with three Raiders defenders hanging off him.

The Roosters kept their foot down and attacked the left. Some quick hands and a nice left footstep from Michael Oldfield saw Sydney take a two-try advantage.

Mitchell Aubusson gave the visitors a nice buffer scoring in the 35th minute.

Half Time: Raiders 0 Roosters 16.

The Green Machine had a lot of work to do in the second half, and in the 50th minute a simple overlap provided the home side with the spark they needed as Sam Williams got the Raiders on the board.

The Roosters were next to answer as Sonny Bill Williams provided a nice offload for Minichiello to dive over the line (54’).

But from here on it was all Canberra. The Raiders struck through Sandor Earl off a cross-field bomb in the 66th minute, but the highlight of the night was Jarrod Croker scoring the match-winning try in his 100th NRL game (76th minute).

Croker converted his own try to win the game.
