Sharks Stadium

The Dragons have got their first win of the 2013 season.

It was St George who looked the goods early. With some promising field position and a lovely offload, Nathan Fien crossed the line in the 11th minute.

The Dragons struck again thanks to some great defense that forced a loose ball and Jamie Soward cleaned it up to ran 80 meters and put his side up 12-0.

The Sharks stepped up their defensive efforts, however lost some firepower when Todd Carney suffered an ankle injury in the 33rd minute. With Carney off the field it was the Sharks other playmaker who took control. Jeff Robson settled Cronulla and when a bomb was left to bounce he was the first there to get his side back in the game (37’).

Half Time: Sharks 6 Dragons 12.

The Sharks looked lost without Carney, and St George made them pay as an airborne Jason Nightingale produced a remarkable finish to put his side up by two converted tries.

Cronulla gathered themselves and hit back when Andrew Fifita took advantage of some poor goal line defense and scored in the 54th minute.

The Dragons secured victory with Nightingale’s double in the 64th minute and Soward field goal in the 72nd.
